Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa.
This is a temporary visa that allows international students to live, study and work in Australia after they have finished their studies. It has two streams, the Graduate Work stream and the Post-Study Work stream.
Graduate Work stream
This stream is for international students who have recently graduated with skills and qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations that are in demand in Australia. It lets you live, study and work in Australia for up to 18 months.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible under this stream:
- You must be in Australia when you apply
- You must be under 50
- Your qualification must have been the result of at least 2 academic years of study in Australia
- You must have studied a CRICOS-registered course
- The qualification must be relevant to an occupation on the Medium to Long Term Skills Shortage List: skilled occupation list
Post-Study Work stream
This stream is for international students who have recently graduated with a degree or higher qualification from an Australian university. It lets you live, work and study in Australia for a period of 2 to 4 years depending on the level of your qualification.
Who is eligible
To be eligible under this stream:
- You must be in Australia when you apply
- You must be under 50
- Your qualification must have been the result of at least 2 academic years of study in Australia
- Your must have studied a CRICOS-registered course
Can I include my family?
- You can include some members of your family in the application (generally your spouse/ partner and your children). An extra Department Home Affairs application charge is payable by those additional applicants and they must also meet Australia’s health and character requirements.
